Am I Smart Enough???? 08/25/2009
O.K., I show these honor awards not to brag by any means, but for two reasons. First, I'm praying about something I never thought I would...home schooling. It scares me to death to think I'd be responsible to teach my children all the math and science facts that they need to get by. I reminded myself this morning that I did graduate with honors, so maybe I could (Even though I have no idea what those honors really mean!). Second, I just wanted to show all my highschool buds that airheads can make it! :) On a more serious note, I would love any advice that you experienced home school moms have to offer. By the way, if you read my earlier post about all that I endured to get the bright blue gum out of my kids mouth, while they were asleep, in order to prevent cutting curls.... Carmen had a little time-out time on her bed after school yesterday, she fell asleep and that's the result. Oh well! CommentsSherry B. 08/25/2009 5:56pm
Girl, do what God is leading you towards. Homeschooling is awesome and I'm thinking of doing it again when Kennedy is in 3rd. I learned so much in two years. Probably more than my son did. You, and I mean "You" are your child best teacher. You're teaching them everyday. The key for me, discipline and lesson plans. Go with curriculums that work for your family situation. It's a big world out there...ask lots of homeschool moms and check out Cathy Duffy's picks for homeschooling.....You Can Do It!

Hi Marci, I have enjoyed reading your blog. I am so happy for you and Derrick and the 5 blessings that He has given you. I don't know if you are still considering hs or not, but I thought I would chime in :)! My husband and I have been homeschooling for 10 years now and would have it no other way. We looked at God's Word before we were married and knew we would be homeschooling. Deut 6:5 & following, Prov 13:20, Deut 4:9, Ps 78 to name a few. Yes, it is a lot of hard work and it can be overwhelming at times, but that's when our trust has to be in the Lord and not ourselves. 1 Cor 10:13, 2 Cor 1:7-9. God is faithful and it's a wonderful opportunity to disciple your children daily. The academics is the easy part...really!! We have 8 children(6 "schooling") and a baby on the way!! We are excited!! I like to speak on homeschooling/discipling. I have resources, websites, etc that I think are a great help if you would like them.
